Introduction of Nebanol 10 gm powder

 

Square Pharmaceuticals Ltd. has recently (on 28.04.07) introduced Nebanol® 10 gm powder. Nebanol® has been the most popular topical antibiotic brand in Bangladesh for many years mainly due to Nebanol® 5 gm powder. But the packaging of this product was old fashioned & also it was insufficient for the whole family. So, as a part of Square’s continuous endeavor to bring positive changes in its products & services, Nebanol® 10 gm powder has been launched. This change has certainly enhanced the elegance & aesthetic appeal of Nebanol® powder & also ensured a suitable pack size for the whole family to prevent or treat bacterial infections in case of minor burns, cuts or other skin conditions.

SQUARE Pharmaceuticals donates Bird-Flu medicine to Government

 

To combat the threat of Bird-Flu outbreak, SQUARE Pharmaceuticals Ltd. is manufacturing Bird-Flu medicine, “Aviflu”.

In a donation program at SQUARE Hospitals Ltd., Mr. Samson H Chowdhury, Chairman of Square Group handed over “Aviflu” to cover the treatment of 200 patients to Chief guest of the program, Health Advisor, Major Gen. Dr. A.S.M. Matiur Rahman (Retd). Advisor, Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, Dr. Chowdhury Sajjadul Karim was also present at the program as a special guest. The renowned doctors of the country associated with the treatment of Avian Flu were also present at the donation program.


SQUARE introduces six antiretroviral drugs for the treatment of AIDS

 

Square Pharmaceutical Limited has organized a launching program of their Antiretroviral (ARV) drugs at Spectra Convention Centre, Gulshan-1, Dhaka on 28 November 2006.

Managing Director of Square Pharmaceutical Limited Mr. Tapan Chowdhury has inaugurated the program and donated drugs to three NGOs namely

  • Ashar Alo Society (AAS),
  • Mukto Akash and
  • Confidential Approach to AIDS Prevention
This occasion was graced by Maj. General Professor A S M Matiur Rahman, Chief HIV Advisor, MOH & FW, Chairman of Technical Committee of national AIDS Committee (NAC), Prof. Nazrul Islam Professor and Chairman, Dept. of Virology, BSMMU and Dr. Md. Abdus Salim, Programme Manager, NASP, Dr. Halida H. Khandaker, Executive Director, CAAP along with the NGOs working in the field.

The launching program covered the following drugs:
Hivarif Tablet (150 mg Lamivudine), Hivarif Oral Solution( Each ml oral Solution contains 10 mg Lamivudine, 100 ml phial), Avudin Tablet (Lamivudine 150 mg and Zidovudine 300 mg), Tivizid Tablet (Abacavir 300 mg, Lamivudine 150 mg and Zidovudine 300 mg), Adiva Tablet (Efavirenz INN 600 mg) and Nelvir tablet (Nelfinavir 250 mg)

 

Square Pharma launches new animal drug

Launching program of a new drug, Enradin, was held at the BRAC Centre of Dhaka by the endeavor of AgroVet Division, Square Pharmaceuticals Limited and the world renowned multinational company, Schering Plough Animal Health, U.S.A. recently. It is mentioned that Enradin (Enramycin HCl 4%) is a research product of Schering Plough Animal Health and it is used for maintaining intestinal health of poultry.

Mr. Alick Sun, Operation Director of South East Asia, Dr. Erwin Awitan (DVM) and Dr. Ifianti Meiti (DVM) were present in the program on behalf of Schering Plough Animal Health. The welcome address was delivered by Mr. K. M. Saiful Islam, Director Sales, Square Pharmaceuticals Ltd. Among others Mr. Jayanta Datta Gupta, Mr. Biplab Sen, Mr. Syad Altaf Ali, Dr. Mohammad Shariful Haque and other office & field colleagues were also present.

Veterinarians, Farmers, Hatchery owners, Nutritionists, Feed millers and Consultants of Poultry sector from all over the country attended the program.


Half-yearly conference of SQUARE Pharma in Kunming, China

The half-yearly sales and marketing conference of SQUARE Pharmaceuticals Ltd. was held in Kunming, China on 9th August 2006. About 150 sales and marketing personnel from all over the country attended this conference.

Mr. Muhammadul Haque, Director, Marketing of SQUARE pharma inaugurated the conference. After that Director, Sales Mr. K M Saiful Islam analyzed the overall business of SQUARE and also discussed about the future strategies and plans.

It is to be noted that the best achievers of Sales dept. in different aspects participated in this conference. After the conference everyone went for a sight seeing of different spectacular places of Kunming.


Square wins Bankers’ Forum Award 2005

The award has been given in recognition to the company’s ethical and socially-responsible business practices and smooth operations with their bankers. SPL has never been a bank defaulter over their forty-eight years of business. Over 13,000 people are working in Square Group at present; while the number was only 1,500 ten years back. The growth of the company is reflected in making more and more people’s life better and better everyday thus contributing to the development of the nation.

The ceremony was arranged by the Bankers’ Forum at CIRDAP auditorium, Dhaka, on 17 May 2006. Mr Kabir Reza, Director, Accounts & Finance, Square Group, received the award on behalf of the company from noted economist Mr Wahiduddin Mahmud. Mr M A Khaleque, President of the Bankers’ Forum, presided over the ceremony.


Square’s Participation at the 7th SAARC Trade Fair, Karachi, Pakistan

Recently Square Pharmaceuticals Ltd. the leading and the largest pharmaceutical company from Bangladesh participated at the 7th SAARC Trade Fair at Karachi, Pakistan. The Fair was held at the Karachi Expo Centre from the 16th to the 18th of June, 2006. Square’s stand situated at a prime location at the Main Hall of the Expo Centre attracted a large number of audiences who were keen to know about the company, its world-class manufacturing facilities and its quality products being presently exported to 28 countries world-wide. On the inaugural day, the 16th of June, 2006, Dr. Saeeda Malik the Minister for Women Development of the Sindh Province in Pakistan who made the official opening of the Trade Fair took a particular interest in the company by visiting its stand with other high-ranking government officials, and inquired about its products and its global activities. She was delighted to know that Square being the only local pharmaceutical entity from Bangladesh, which is on the verge of entering the regulatory markets of UK and the European Union. During its participation at the 7th SAARC Trade Fair at Karachi, the company has made contacts with some of the most influential and respected local and global pharmaceuticals entities that are operating in Pakistan. They have shown great interest in Square’s products, especially its huge range of products in different therapeutic classes to offer to the Pakistan Pharmaceutical Market, and most importantly, its wide range of newer molecules, combination drugs and some of its specialized products like inhalers, suppositories that have a very unique demand in the Pakistan Pharmaceutical Market. The company has already forged ahead to evaluating these potential prospects for the final selection of partners who would best serve its long-term interest in this highly lucrative market. Square plans to launch its operation in Pakistan very soon.

 

Maldives’s Minister of Economic and Trade Visited to Square’s Dhaka Plant

The Honorable Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Maldives His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Jaleel visited to Square Pharmaceuticals’ state-of-the-art Dhaka Plant on the 21st April, 2006. Higher officials from the Export Promotion Bureau accompanied the honorable minister during the visit.

The visiting Minister was delighted to see first-hand such world-class pharmaceutical production facility in Bangladesh. He was particularly attracted to the Plant’s adoption of the latest technologies in manufacturing and quality assurance. The Plant has been built in conformance with the US FDA and UK MHRA requirements. During the course of the Plant visit, at a discussion, he expressed his willingness to expand relations in pharmaceuticals between Maldives and Bangladesh. Square has already completed the necessary regulatory measures for exporting its pharmaceuticals products to Maldives.


Square’s Participation at CPhI 2005 Madrid

 

 

The leading and the largest pharmaceutical company of the Country Square Pharmaceuticals Ltd. participated at the CPHI Fair at Madrid, held in Feria de Madrid in Spain from the 1st of November to the 3rd of November 2005.

It is to be noted that CPHI is the largest pharmaceutical fair and meeting ground for pharmaceutical companies coming from all corners of the globe for showcasing their products and technologies, making partnerships and networks and promoting their entities at the global level. This year there was a participation of some 955 pharmaceutical companies coming from 40 different countries. Square Pharmaceuticals Ltd. was the first company from Bangladesh to have an independent stand at the CPHI and was represented by a five member team headed by its Managing Director Mr. Tapan Chowdhury.

Mr. Tapan Chowdhury also gave a talk on “Unexplored Opportunities in Contract Manufacturing and Import”, at the CPHI Fair Ground in front of a large audience which comprised representatives from some of the leading pharmaceutical companies in the world on the 2nd day of the Fair. It was well received and helped promote Square’s image to a whole new level. Its Stand at Hall 10 at the Fair Ground also drew a large audience who were keenly interested in knowing about Square, its manufacturing facilities, its world-wide presence and its capabilities in producing world-class pharmaceuticals. These represented the countries in Asia, the Eastern and Western Europe, Africa and North and South America. They have keenly expressed their willingness to cooperate in mutual business opportunities with Square and were enthralled to found that such global competencies in pharmaceutical manufacturing exist in Bangladesh that seem to be a perfect match with respect to their quality expectations, price comparisons, customization requirements and meeting their individual business needs.


Inauguration of Square Cephalosporins Manufacturing facility

 

 

Yet another milestone in Pharmaceutical manufacturing was set by Square on September 27, 2005 when the company launched its dedicated and state of the art Cephalosporin Manufacturing facility at Kaliakor, Gazipur.

Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, MP, Hon’ble Minister for Health and Family Welfare inaugurated the facility built as per US, FDA and UK, MHRA cGMP specifications. Mr. Mizanur Rahman Sinha, MP Hon’ble State Minister for Health and family Welfare also graced the occasion.

This world class facility is housed in a 95,000 sq. feet of covered area and will manufacture Cephalosporin antibiotics in tablets, Capsules, Dry Syrup and Injectable preparations. The annual capacity per shift of the plant is 64 million tablets, 47 million capsules, 3.32 million bottle of dry syrps and 10.58 million of injectables. The facility was built by Telstar S.A. of Spain, a world renowned pharmaceutical manufacturing facility, on a turn key basis.

The facility will add new era in Pharmaceutical export from Bangladesh. Patients in the country will also now get developed country standard Cephalosporins from the facility.

Presidents and Secretary Generals of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) and Bangladesh Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (BAPI) along with many dignitaries from Home and Abroad attended the inauguration.
